MYRTLE BEACH MARATHON GIVES BACK
More than $3 million dollars raised for local charities since our inception!
Supporting local charities that give back to the residents of Myrtle Beach, whose unwavering support for the marathon over the past two decades is without parallel, has been at our core since our inception. The marathon supports our official charity partners in many ways, some of which include: direct cash donations, providing race entries that are leveraged by the charity as a fundraising tool, and marketing and fundraising opportunities such as complementary participation in the Health and Fitness Expo and inclusion in select marathon marketing collateral.
2018 Myrtle Beach Marathon Official Charities
American Red Cross, Coastal South Carolina Chapter
The Red Cross Rescue Racers program is the official charity training team specifically for the Myrtle Beach Marathon. Developed in 2007 as a partnership between the Coastal South Carolina Chapter, the American Red Cross and the Marathon Board of Directors, the team has raised more than $675,000 for local disaster relief since its inception. Qualified coaches provide individuals desiring to run, run/walk, or walk the marathon or half-marathon with a 17-week progressive training program that includes bi-weekly speakers on educational topics and a weekly group run/walk. Other benefits include team apparel, a sponsored pre-race pasta party, private duffle shuttle and private massage tent at the finish line. In return, team members commit to raising funds to support the humanitarian mission of the American Red Cross (visit Coastal South Carolina Chapter at www.redcross.org).
